Woot Woot!
Outside.
What a beautiful day. I had a great morning sleeping in after my "Leah Love Fest" of a PA Admissions Dinner Thursday night. Work went great and I brought the wine for Wine Friday. Even got to go home early, so I decided to run outside.
This was my first time using my new "Runkeeper" application on my iPhone. It's a GPS thingy that calculates my pace, route and some other things. I walked roughly 5 minutes and then started it up.
My goal was to run to the Hawthorn Farms MAX stop, but when I got there I just turned around and started back. Did a little detour down a street and came back... still running. I made it almost back to my original starting point! It was almost 18 minutes and over 1.5 miles! I walked for about 2 minutes and started up again. I went another 8 minutes and finally called it good. I stopped Runkeeper and started walking when I had an epiphany! Or act of stupidity... but thought I could keep running. So I started up again with the intention of doing 5 more minutes... but after 1 minute and 45 seconds I was done... again.
Overall I think it was pretty successful! Runkeeper is fantastic and I did a fairly good stretch of straight running. Bad news is my average pace was higher than the treadmill. But as I've tried to convince myself earlier, I don't care about pace. According to Runkeeper I went about 2.24 miles and had an average pace of 12:44 minutes/mile. I think that sounds about right... although I have not done the math. Now that is less than my other "runs" but this did not include my 5 minute warmup and 5 minute cooldown, so really it's more actual running distance.
I think I'm going to need to kick it up a notch. I want to run the whole 5K dammit! I'm thinking about doing Carissa's idea of doing like the bike or elliptical on my "off days". I'll keep thinking, but I think I can go every other day instead of 3 times a week.
Alright off to celebrate at Mazatlan!!
