Day Seventeen

Phew! Back on track.
2.39 in 33 minues.

I've been pretty bummed since my yesterday morning run. Stressing about how I am supposed to wake up on a Sunday and get downtown before 8am and run the Shamrock. Adrenaline right?!

I came home from work with a mission. Turns out I didn't need such a determined mind set because it was 10 times better than yesterday morning. I successfully completed two 10 minute stretches with a 3 minute walk in between. This was the LAST time the plan allows me to walk in the middle. Now there are no runs less than 25 minutes.

Ok so I have 4 1/2 weeks until the "race" and 3 1/2 weeks left of the plan. I'm thinking of modifying the plan slightly. My goal this Saturday will be to run 20 minutes (same as last weekend). The first run of next week I'll do the 10 minutes and walk 2 minutes and 10 minutes again. Then after that I'll move up to no run less than 20 minutes. After a couple of times with that, I'll move it up to 25 minutes, than 30 minutes. I'm done stressing about my pace. My goal was not to have a set time for the 5K, but rather to run the entire thing. I will be happy if I finish in 45 minutes. Which I understand means a 15 minute mile pace, which I'm doing better than that. But oh well. I'll be outside with thousands of people and there is a hill. If I jog the whole thing I'll have accomplished my goal.

Maybe I'll work on pace after the 5K. I do plan to continue this. I think eventually I'd like to work towards a 10K. Seems like there are more opportunities at the 10K level. However I'd like to get to less than 30 minutes for the 5K. Maybe I should try and find a 10K in the late summer/early fall to set as a new goal.

WHOA there! Reign it in! Focus.
